Les Carroz Ski Resort is a charming French village in the Grand Massif ski area. This traditional French resort is mostly made of ski chalets with some ski apartments too. There’s a good range of chalet companies in Les Carroz, there is especially a good selection of catered chalets for this area. It’s mostly the smaller chalet operators who are based here.
Les Carroz is a large enough ski resort to have all the facilities you would expect from a French ski resort, though it’s by no means a party town. It’s more orientated towards groups and families, with a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a very convenient ski area for UK travellers being just 1 hours drive from Geneva airport, making it a popular destination for long weekend skiers as well as for week-long catered chalet holidays.
The Skiing in Les Carroz, being part of the Grand Massif, is first class. The Grand Massif comprises of 5 linked ski resorts – Flaine, Les Carroz, Samoens, Sixt fer a Cheval and Morillion. Between them they have 265kms of pistes, with a good range in both altitude and ski terrain. We would definitely recommend intermediates and above taking the full area lift pass so then can enjoy the full extents of this wonderful ski area.
We cannot talk about the Grand Massif without talking about the snow record. Flaine is the highest spot in the Grand Massif (that's next door to Les Carroz), and has one of the best snow records in the Alps. It's a surprisingly unknown area considering the snow stats. Generally when everyone else is getting 10cm then 20cm lands here. Take for example the winter of 2010-2011, quite a poor winter all round. Tignes maxed out at 145cm snow depth at the top (Tignes historical snow), Courchevel had a maximum of 120cm (Courchevel Historical Snow Record), yet the top of our area had a 225cm max at the top (Grand Massif Historical Snow Record).
We currently have two beautifully finished, catered chalets in the Les Carroz area, Catered Chalet Du Bois and Catered Chalet Deux Freres .
